As Chinese New Year is just around the corner in late January 2014, mommy start thinking of what gifts to present our relatives and friends. Coincidentally I just received a box of Gartien Pineapple cake from Gartien, so I let my mom to try out the taste. I was so happy to receive this again as I went to their launching event a few months back, I find that the pineapple cake is awesome :P
Why I said Gartien is a perfect gift for your loves one? Firstly pineapples carry a deep meaning in the Penang Hokkien dialect "ONG LAI" meaning "prosperity comes", a great omen to start over the new year.
The Gartien Packaging is so "ONG" ahh
Secondly, Gartien which is possibly one of the most popular pineapple cake in Penang. This year Gartien took bold steps in coming out with totally new packaging designs. It is much bigger now and dawns in elegant bright red color with gold stampings, as you can see from my picture. At the same time, the little pineapple cake packages have Chinese ink printing of Peony flowers, the theme set for Chinese New Year 2014.
Each box with 10 pieces
Thirdly, the Gartien tasted very soft, crumbly and fresh, as each piece is individually packed to preserve its re-freshness. Basic ingredients which is including flour, pure butter, egg, milk, powder, raw sugar, honey, boiled fresh pineapple and the others. It is healthy for consuming as they don't add any preservative and artificial flavoring.
Besides, pineapple filling itself is 100% home grown in Nibong Tebal Penang, carefully handpicked and processed under strict quality control right in the heart of Georgetown, Penang. Pineapples are rich in nutrients for body :)
What more it’s a great tea time snack to go with a cup of tea.
The pineapples are brunoised instead of blended into puree.
You would get pure bites in your texture.
Overall, I love it not only through its freshness and real pineapple texture but also due to its versatility to be served during any occasion.Somehow, not forget to check the dateline stated behind the box before you eat :)
